This is an Ability Meet. Skaters will be grouped according to their seed time, with consideration being given to the age of skaters in each group. With the exception of Northeast Short Track Racing Series (NEST), divisions may be mixed gender. The format of the Meet is a two-round progression, one heat and a final. The number of finals are based on the number of skaters in the heats. The Super Events are based on overall points. All athletes will skate in a Super, (A, B, C…) for their longest distance. Trophies will be awarded to the top four finishers in each division.
Novice ─ This division is for skaters who have been skating for less than one year as of 12/15/2024, and have never raced in a US Speedskating (USS) or Speed Skating Canada (SSC) sanctioned meet. If unsure about eligibility, please discuss with the skater’s coach or contact the meet director before registering.
Ability ─ Skaters 11 years old and younger as of 07/01/2024 will compete in the Ability Division. Skaters ages 12 and older who do not meet the NEST qualifying time standard will also compete in the Ability Division. Consideration will be given to the age of skaters in each group. Skaters 10 and under will skate on the track (85 m or 111 m) most appropriate for their level.
NEST ─ Skaters ages 12 and older as of 07/01/2024 who meet the qualifying time standard of 1:48.00 for men and 1:58.00 for women in the 1000 meters. The time standard must be from a sanctioned short track meet, from 07/01/2023 or later.
New: The ISU “Zero False Starts” rule will be applied to the NEST Division.
